XANTREX WARRANTY POLICY
Effective: March 2026
1. Introduction
This Global Limited Warranty Policy applies to all Xantrex-branded products sold worldwide. It supersedes all previous product-family warranties and establishes a unified, consistent warranty framework for all Xantrex batteries, inverters, chargers, controllers, solar modules, accessories, and related equipment.
This policy ensures consistent service standards, supports global compliance, and provides clear expectations for customers and distributors.
This policy is subject to mandatory statutory rights that may vary by jurisdiction.
2. Authorized Purchases Only
Warranty coverage applies only to products purchased from Xantrex directly, authorized Xantrex distributors, authorized Xantrex dealers, or authorized OEM manufacturers. Products purchased from unauthorized sellers or re-sellers including online marketplaces where the seller is not an authorized Xantrex distributor or dealer, are not eligible for warranty coverage.
3. Original Purchaser Only (Non-Transferable)
This warranty applies exclusively to the original purchaser and is non-transferable unless required by local consumer law.
4. Warranty Coverage Duration
Warranty duration varies by product category:
- Solar Charge Controllers & Advanced Chargers: 5 Years.
- Inverters & Standard Chargers: 2 Years.
- Control Panels & Electronic Accessories: 2 Years.
- Cables, Sensors & Minor Accessories: 1 Year.
- Solar Modules: 10 Years Workmanship + 25 Years Performance
- Lithium Batteries: 10 Years: Prorated
Years 0-3: Full Replacement Coverage
- 100% coverage for defects in materials or workmanship
- Xantrex will, at its discretion,
- Repair the battery
- Replace the battery with a new or equivalent unit
- No prorated cost to the customer, excluding shipping or labor if applicable
Years 4-10: Prorated Coverage
- Year 4 – 70%
- Year 5 – 60%
- Year 6 – 50%
- Year 7 – 40%
- Year 8 – 30%
- Year 9 – 20%
- Year 10 – 10%
The coverage credit is applied towards the current MSRP of a replacement battery.
The customer is responsible for remaining balance, plus any applicable shipping, handling or installation costs.
Replacement batteries provided under prorated coverage do not reset or extend the original warranty terms.
Implied warranties (including merchantability and fitness) are limited in duration to the duration of the applicable express warranty to the extent permitted by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on the duration of implied warranties.
5. Warranty Coverage & Remedies
If a covered defect arises within the warranty period and a valid claim is submitted, Xantrex will, at its discretion:
- Repair the product using new or refurbished parts
- Replace the product with a new or equivalent model
- Provide field service, where applicable.
Refunds are not offered. Repaired or replaced products carry the remainder of the original warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer.
6. Exclusions
This warranty does not cover damage or failure resulting from:
- Improper use, installation, storage, wiring operation or maintenance
- Unauthorized repairs, modifications or tampering
- Force majeure, including but not limited to fire, flood, earthquakes, storm damage, overvoltage & lightning strikes
- Environmental damage including but not limited to corrosion, liquid ingress, fire, water, snow, moisture & contamination
- Insufficient ventilation
- Failure to observe applicable safety standards & regulations
- Consumables (fuses, filters, fans, cables)
- Cosmetic imperfections not affecting performance
- Used as a component part of a system or product expressly warranted by another manufacturer, unless otherwise agreed in writing by Xantrex
- Damage during transportation or shipping
- Products altered, defaced or missing serial numbers
7. Warranty Claim Procedure (RMA Process)
Customers must obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) before returning any product. Unauthorized returns will be refused.
To initiate a claim, customer must provide:
- Product model and serial number
- Proof of purchase (receipt or invoice)
- Description of the issue or defect
- VIN for vehicle installations
- HIN for marine installations
- Customer contact and shipping details
A $250 USD inspection fee, plus shipping, may apply if the unit is found to be non-defective, altered, or out of warranty.
8. Out-of-Warranty Service
Products no longer under warranty:
- A $250 USD inspection fee will be levied in all cases
- Customers must pay all shipping costs both to and from Xantrex
- Paid repair or replacement options may be available depending on product type and region.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Xantrex’s liability is limited to the original purchase price of the product.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Xantrex is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including lost revenue, profits, business continuity or data, except where prohibited by law.
If any provision of this policy is held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be severed, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
10. Regional Legal Compliance
- United States & Canada: Complies with applicable consumer laws.
- European Union: Complies with Directive 2019/771; statutory rights unaffected.
- Australia: Includes guarantees that cannot be excluded under ACL.
- APAC & Other Regions: Xantrex complies with local consumer-protection laws.
11. Warranty Start Date
The warranty begins on the retail customer’s proof-of-purchase date. Proof of purchase is required for any and all warranty consideration.
