If you own a boat and are using non-Xantrex lithium batteries, you might wonder if the TRUEcharge3 charger would charge your batteries. The answer is a resounding yes! The TRUEcharge3 comes pre-configured with optimized settings for Xantrex lithium-ion batteries, so if you’re using those, you’re ready to go right out of the box. For non-Xantrex lithium battery bank owners, the custom lithium set points can be configured to match the specific requirements of your battery manufacturer.

To make this setup process even easier, we’ve teamed up with Kevin Conroy from Smith’s Marina in Annapolis for a video walkthrough. The main steps involve setting the Custom Battery Type and then adjusting the Absorb and Float Voltage levels. In Kevin’s video below, you’ll see just how simple it is to make these adjustments. Once you’ve activated “Custom Battery Type” mode, the LEDs on the charger will guide you through the settings.

To help you choose the right Absorb and Float Voltage settings, refer to the quick-reference image below. Each LED corresponds to a specific voltage level for both Absorb Mode and Float Mode, so you can easily match your settings to your battery manufacturer’s recommendations.

Once your custom settings are configured, all that’s left is to save them. With just a press of a button, your TRUEcharge3 will remember your custom lithium settings, ensuring that your battery gets the optimal charge for its specific requirements.

Why Custom Lithium Settings Matter

By configuring custom settings, you’re ensuring that your battery receives the precise charge it needs, extending its lifespan and maintaining its performance. This flexibility makes TRUEcharge3 a versatile choice for a wide range of lithium battery brands, giving you the power to adapt your charger to your specific setup.

Adjust your settings, power up, and enjoy smooth sailing with your perfectly tuned battery system!

The TRUEcharge3 charger by Xantrex brings a new level of comfort to your onboard experience with Quiet Mode—a feature crafted for those times when you need your power without the noise. Imagine anchoring for the night, surrounded by silence, or pulling into a quiet marina without the hum of equipment disturbing the peace. Quiet Mode keeps things calm, ensuring that your nights remain restful while your battery charger works in the background.

Quiet Mode is all about subtle power. When activated, it limits the charger’s output to a trickle charge, preventing the fan from kicking in. This feature allows you to maintain a low, steady charge without the noise.

Activating the Quiet Mode

It takes the same steps to set up quiet mode on the TRUEcharg3 remote panel as it takes on the battery charger itself. Activating Quiet Mode is pretty straightforward and requires just a press of a button. Here is how you can turn the Quiet mode on.

On the front of your Battery charger or remote panel, look for the button labeled “Quiet Mode”—it’s easy to spot.

Simply press and hold this

button for 3 seconds. A flashing light on will indicate that the quiet mode is active, and your charger will have a silent operation.

Deactivating the Quiet Mode

Quiet Mode automatically deactivates after 9 hours, returning the charger to regular operation for normal charging power. However, if you’d like to turn off Quiet Mode manually, simply press and hold the Quiet Mode button on either the charger or remote panel. The flashing light on

will turn off, confirming that Quiet Mode has been disabled.

With Quiet Mode, the TRUEcharge3 gives you control over your onboard environment. By keeping noise levels low when it matters most, Quiet Mode is perfect for peaceful nights and quiet evenings on the water. So go ahead, anchor for the night, power up, and let the TRUEcharge3 do its job while you sleep easy.

The TRUEcharge series by Xantrex has long been trusted in marine and mobile applications for delivering reliable, efficient power charging. Now, with the release of the TRUEcharge3, there are several updates that take the series even further. While the new series has the same dimensions, mounting and wiring footprint making the transition easy, the TRUEcharge3 introduces features and optimizations that respond to the evolved needs in marine and mobile power management. Here’s what’s changed –

Lithium Compatibility with a Custom Mode

The TRUEcharge3 now fully supports lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, meeting the increasing demand for lithium in marine applications considering their durability and long lifespan. The charger comes pre-configured with bulk, float and absorb mode settings of Xantrex’s Lithium-Ion batteries. However, the charger has a custom mode to allow for optimized charging of third-party lithium batteries. The older Pb-Calc function has been removed, with the battery getting redundant in market, making the TRUEcharge3 compatible with Gel, AGM, Lithium and Flooded batteries.

Quiet Mode for your Peaceful Nights

One of the most user-friendly additions to the TRUEcharge3 is Quiet Mode, a feature designed for nighttime or quiet hours. This function limits the charger’s fan usage by reducing output to a “trickle” charge, creating near-silent operation. Whether you’re docked overnight or resting onboard, Quiet Mode keeps noise to a minimum without compromising safety. The new blue and white color scheme and LED indicators clearly show when Quiet Mode is active, making monitoring effortless.

Redesigned Remote Panel with Added Functionality

For those using remote controls, the TRUEcharge3 remote panel has been updated with black casing and new indicators specific to lithium and Quiet Mode. This makes it easy to check settings and monitor the charger’s status from a distance. The remote panel offers convenient access to features like turning the charger on or off, adjusting output current, monitoring each battery bank’s charge status, and activating Quiet Mode. Chargers often installed in hard-to-reach locations, the new remote panel allows for easy monitoring and control from the helm, without the need to reach the unit directly.

Maintenance and troubleshooting are simpler with TRUEcharge3’s new QR code addition on the product. This sticker links to the product pages on the Xantrex Website with links to online support, product guides and other resources, making it easier to find answers during setup or maintenance.

DOE Compliance

The TRUEcharge3 meets U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) efficiency standards, aligning with Xantrex’s commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly power solutions for the marine industry. DOE compliance means the charger adheres to strict energy efficiency criteria set by the U.S. government. By prioritizing energy efficiency, TRUEcharge3 not only provides a reliable charging solution but also contributes to a cleaner marine environment.

Enhanced Durability with Optimized MOSFETs

Xantrex has made hardware improvements to TRUEcharge3, incorporating high-quality MOSFETs with optimized gate drivers. This upgrade not only boosts the charger’s efficiency but also contributes to its durability. The improved reliability of the MOSFETs has allowed Xantrex to extend the warranty from 2 years to 5 years, giving you added confidence in the charger’s long-term performance.

TRUEcharge3 continues the legacy of reliability established by the TRUEcharge2, with essential updates that align with the demands of today’s marine and mobile users. TRUEcharge3 offers a well-rounded, powerful charging solution that adapts to diverse battery needs while providing the durability and functionality that you expect.
